The UAE's Ministry of Health reports significant participation in its initiative to boost organ and blood donation efforts.
The United Arab Emirates' Ministry of Health and Prevention has announced that a total of 30,388 individuals have registered in the 'Hayat' program for organ donation and transplantation.
This initiative supports sustainability efforts in the healthcare sector and reflects notable success in fostering community support and enabling patients requiring organ transplants to regain hope for a renewed life.
On October 10, 2023, the Ministry launched a campaign in collaboration with the 'Hayat' program and the blood banks in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.
The campaign aims to align organ and blood donation efforts with international best practices.
It was held at the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences in Dubai, as part of reinforcing the nation's leadership in integrated and sustainable healthcare services in line with the 'We the UAE 2031' vision.
The campaign seeks to increase organ donation rates through the synergy of two leading health sustainability systems, organ donation and blood donation, in order to strengthen the culture of community giving.
This approach aims to improve quality of life indicators by developing a sustainable healthcare system and positioning the UAE as a global model for organ donation and transplantation.
This initiative is part of a comprehensive plan that includes applying global best practices in organ donation, building capacities, and exchanging expertise among medical professionals.
It also focuses on developing innovative awareness programs targeting diverse community segments and enhancing partnerships with health and academic institutions.
Dr. Amin Hussain Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry's Health Regulation Sector, emphasized during the launch event that the successive successes of the 'Hayat' program have resulted from continuous efforts and exceptional collaboration between federal and local health and academic sectors.
He explained that the initiative aims to enhance community awareness about the importance of organ and blood donation, promote a healthy lifestyle, and develop an integrated system that aligns with the highest global standards in organ donation and transplantation.
He noted that the campaign signifies a significant milestone in the journey of the 'Hayat' program, accentuating the achievements of this ambitious initiative.
Dr. Ali Al Obaidli, Chairman of the National Committee for Donation and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues, affirmed that the success of the 'Hayat' program is evident in the rising number of organ donation operations, highlighting the UAE's achievements in organ transplantation and consolidating its leadership in the field.
