Death toll reaches 50,357 with over 114,400 injured since October 7, 2023, amid ongoing conflict.
The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza announced on Monday that the number of casualties resulting from Israeli airstrikes has surpassed 50,000, with a total of 50,357 fatalities and 114,400 injuries recorded since the outbreak of hostilities on October 7, 2023. In a statement published on their
Facebook page, the ministry reported that from October 18 onward, the toll included 1,001 deaths and 2,359 injuries.
According to the ministry, hospitals in the Gaza Strip received 80 deceased individuals and 305 injuries over the past 48 hours, with 53 of those dead and 189 injured reported on Sunday, which marked the first day of the Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
The ministry also indicated that numerous victims remain trapped under rubble and in streets inaccessible to emergency responders and civil defense teams.
The escalation in violence followed Israel's end of a ceasefire agreement with Hamas on March 18, 2024. This resumption of airstrikes, described as a sudden wave of bombardments, has reportedly resulted in the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians across various regions of the Gaza Strip.
