The sixth edition of the Saudi Cup event took place at King Abdulaziz Racetrack in Riyadh, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia.

In a significant moment for equestrian sports, the horse Golden Vicoma triumphed in the Saudi Derby, a third-category race, owned by Mohammed Ahmed Ali Al Subosi, trained by Ahmed bin Harmash, and ridden by jockey Connor Beasley.

Golden Vicoma completed the 1600-meter race in a time of 1:38.19, finishing ahead of second-place Shen Forever, ridden by Akira Sugawara and trained by Hideki Mori, by a margin of one and three-quarters lengths.

In the highlight of the evening, the horse Forever Young won the prestigious Saudi Cup, boasting a total prize pool of $20 million for its 1800-meter distance.

Owned by Japanese owner Sisuma Fujita, trained by Yoshito Yahagi, and ridden by jockey Ryusei Sakai, Forever Young achieved a time of 1:49.09, narrowly defeating runner-up Romantic Warrior, trained by Danny Shum and ridden by James McDonald, by a neck.

The third place was secured by Ushba Tesiro, winner of the 2023 Dubai World Cup, trained by Noboru Takagi.

The opening day of the Saudi Cup also showcased the performance of the UAE's horse RP King Maker, from the National Emirati Stables, trained by Hilal Al Alawi and ridden by Italian jockey Cristian Demuro, as it captured the fourth edition of the Al Munifa Cup for purebred Arabian horses, with a prize of $1.5 million.
