Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid's Poetry as a Chronicle of the UAE's History

The Vice President of the UAE shares reflections on the nation's past and present through his verses.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, has utilized poetry as a medium to document the rich history of the UAE.

His verses celebrate the nation's founding leaders and the remarkable individuals who have contributed to its development and progress.

The Dubai Media Office recently shared a video featuring Sheikh Mohammed reciting lines from his poem "Between Past and Present." The poem holds significance within the cultural narrative of the UAE, embodying the Sheikh's reflections on the country’s heritage and evolution.

The poem was set to music by artist Ahmed Al Harami and performed by the singer Al Ousmi.

The poem's themes focus on the juxtaposition of historical and contemporary elements, highlighting the imaginative qualities of the UAE's past while paying tribute to the resilience and leadership of its figures.

Selected verses from the poem evoke a sense of nostalgia and admiration for previous leaders, particularly emphasizing the character of Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, who is acknowledged for his commitment and capacity to bear challenges.

In the verses, Sheikh Mohammed articulates the enduring love and respect for Sheikh Rashid, encapsulating the spirit of unity and strength that has characterized the UAE's journey.

The poetry not only serves as a cultural artifact but also fosters a collective memory, celebrating the achievements and struggles faced by the nation.

Sheikh Mohammed's engagement with poetry reflects a broader trend within Emirati culture, where literature and artistic expressions are increasingly celebrated as integral parts of the national identity.

His work contributes to the continuing dialogue about the UAE's history and its aspirations for the future.
