Streamlining Marriage Grant Procedures and Eliminating Unnecessary Conditions
Efforts by the Ministry of Community Empowerment to Facilitate Marriage and Promote Family Stability
The Ministry of Community Empowerment has announced significant improvements in the procedures for applying for the 'Marriage Grant.' Aimed at assisting young people in starting a stable married life, the initiative also seeks to raise awareness about family life post-marriage and the essentials of building and maintaining a cohesive family.
In a recent update shared on its Instagram platform, the ministry detailed the developmental efforts undertaken to enhance community quality of life.
These improvements include a 63% reduction in the required documentation and a 70% decrease in processing time.
The newly simplified process also anticipates service requests on the 'Asrati' platform, eliminating unnecessary conditions, nullifying visit requirements, and ensuring grant disbursement within 10 business days to eligible applicants.
The ministry stated that the redesign and re-engineering of the service procedures were aligned with the needs of the applicants, involving network integration and collaboration with over 50 related entities and data interchange with 80 organizations.
The marriage grant, valued at 70,000 AED, is a one-time benefit contingent on specific conditions.
These include that both the applicant and their spouse must be citizens of the state, the groom must be at least 21 years old, the bride at least 18 years old at the time of the marriage, and the individual's net income must not exceed 25,000 AED.
In tandem with providing financial assistance, the ministry emphasizes increasing awareness among young couples preparing for marriage.
This is facilitated through the 'Idaad' program, which equips participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to establish stable families across various life aspects.
These compulsory sessions for grant recipients are conducted by a group of family specialists, underscoring the ministry's holistic approach to fostering family stability.
