Dubai Police announces temporary suspension of online services; Etihad Rail unveils high-speed train with significant economic impact over 50 years.
Dubai Police announced on Saturday that several online services, accessible through their website and smart applications, will face temporary suspension.
This disruption will occur from 12am to 6am on Sunday, January 26, 2025, as the authority undertakes necessary updates to its traffic services.
The announcement was made via the social media platform X.
In another significant development in the UAE, Etihad Rail has introduced its high-speed passenger train, a project anticipated to have a substantial economic impact.
Mohammed Al Shehhi, Chief Projects Officer at Etihad Rail, stated that this new rail network is expected to contribute Dh145 billion to the UAE's GDP over the next five decades.
This high-speed train aims to facilitate rapid travel between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, enhancing both economic and social integration.
The network will consist of six strategically positioned stations including Reem Island, Saadiyat Island, and Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, with additional stops near Al Maktoum International Airport and the Jaddaf area in Dubai.
The entire network will operate on electric power, aligning with the UAE's "Net Zero 2050" Strategic Initiative, thereby supporting the country's sustainable development goals.
Al Shehhi confirmed that the tendering process for the project's contracts is complete, and the network designs have been approved.
Emphasizing the UAE's leadership in infrastructure, Al Shehhi highlighted how the project will serve as a milestone in the nation's transportation sector.
The initial passenger train fleet is designed to accommodate approximately 400 passengers and aims to ensure convenience through family-friendly amenities.
The first stations, located in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Fujairah, will integrate with existing metro and bus networks to facilitate seamless multi-modal travel.
By advancing this rail project, the UAE seeks not only to modernize its infrastructure but also to enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
