Thirteen Nations Launch Fencing Competition at Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament

The event, part of the 12th edition of the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament, showcases international participation and local talent.
The fencing competition officially commenced on the evening of March 4, as part of the events of the 12th edition of the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament.

This prominent sports initiative was launched and is sponsored by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai.

The tournament is held annually during the month of Ramadan at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex, under the guidance of Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council.

The tournament promotes the slogan ‘Abilities Without Limits.’

Thirteen countries participated in the fencing championship, underscoring its significance on the international stage and its role in enhancing the sport in the UAE by allowing local athletes to gain experience from competing with elite fencers from around the world.

The countries participating in the men's foil international championship include Italy, Peru, Egypt, France, Tunisia, Slovakia, India, the United States, Russia, Tajikistan, Syria, Saudi Arabia, as well as fencers from the UAE who are registered in the national team and local clubs.

In addition to the international competition, there is also a local championship for female fencers from the UAE, and the third-place matches and finals for both competitions will conclude today.

Separately, the Nad Al Sheba Padel Team Championship is set to begin today, featuring teams from seven nations: the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iran, Australia, the Netherlands, and Saudi Arabia.

The group stage matches will take place over three days, with the semi-finals scheduled for Thursday, concluding on Friday, March 7. Yesterday marked the conclusion of the International Padel Federation's gold category competition, which exhibited intense competition among international male and female participants.

Following this, the open doubles championship will take place on March 9, featuring the best 32 teams until March 12, while a youth competition is scheduled from March 13 to 16. Additionally, there will be a local padel championship from March 16 to 20.

Mamdouh Basyuni, representative of the health hydration partner, expressed pride in supporting the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament, highlighting the company's commitment to empowering athletes and inspiring future generations to push the limits of their ambitions and showcase their potential in the field.

The organizing committee continues to accept registration requests for participation in running, cycling, laser run, badminton, tug-of-war, and obstacle challenge events through the approved electronic system available on the official website.

The jiu-jitsu tournament is scheduled for March 5 and 6, with the obstacle challenge competition starting on March 6 and lasting until March 10. The running race will take place on March 8, along with the badminton championship on March 8 and 9. The wheelchair basketball tournament will begin on March 9 and run until March 19, while the laser run event is slated for March 10 and 11, with the tug-of-war set for March 11 through 18. The cycling race will occur on March 15 and 16, and volleyball matches will start on March 12.
