UAE Announces Eid Al Adha Holidays for Private Sector in 2025
Four-day holiday for Arafah Day and Eid Al Adha set for June 2025 in the UAE private sector.
Private sector employees in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will observe a four-day holiday for Arafah Day and Eid Al Adha in June 2025, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE).
The holiday will commence on 9 Dhul Hijjah, which corresponds to Thursday, June 5, 2025, and will extend through 12 Dhul Hijjah, concluding on Sunday, June 8. This means employees will benefit from a four-day break that includes the weekend, with regular work scheduled to resume on Monday, June 9.
The announcement aligns with the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent on Tuesday evening, indicating that the last month of the Islamic lunar calendar will begin on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. The crescent was confirmed by astronomers from the UAE’s Astronomy Centre.
Public sector employees will also enjoy the same holiday duration, as a unified holiday policy in the UAE ensures equitable treatment of both public and private sector workers regarding holiday breaks throughout the year.
Eid Al Adha, known as the 'Festival of Sacrifice,' is a significant Islamic holiday that commemorates the readiness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son in adherence to God's command.
The occasion is characterized by special prayers, charitable giving, and the customary sacrifice of livestock, with the meat distributed among family, friends, and those in need.
