UAE Announces Eid Al Adha Holidays for Public Sector Employees
Public sector employees in the UAE will enjoy a four-day holiday from June 5 to June 8 for Eid Al Adha.
The Federal Authority of Human Resources in the United Arab Emirates has announced a four-day holiday for public sector employees in observance of Eid Al Adha.
According to the official statement, the holiday will take place from 9 Dhul Hijjah to 12 Dhul Hijjah, corresponding to a break starting on Thursday, June 5 and ending on Sunday, June 8. Work is set to resume on Monday, June 9.
This year's celebration follows the recent convening of the moonsighting committee, which confirmed the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent in the skies over the UAE on the evening of May 28. As a result, May 28 has been designated as the first day of Dhul Hijjah.
Consequently, Arafah Day will occur on June 5, leading into Eid Al Adha, which is expected to begin on Friday, June 6. Eid Al Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is an important religious holiday for Muslims around the world, commemorating the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son in obedience to God's command.
