UAE Condemns Israeli Actions in Jerusalem Amid Rising Tensions
UAE Foreign Ministry summons Israeli ambassador to express strong condemnation of recent violations against Palestinians.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates has summoned the Israeli ambassador to formally express the country's severe condemnation of the recent violations and offensive actions against Palestinians, particularly in the vicinity of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Islamic Quarter of the Old City.
The ministry characterized these actions as a serious provocation and incitement against Muslims, as well as a blatant violation of the sanctity of the holy city.
The statement from the ministry underscored that the repeated attacks by Israeli extremists, coupled with incitement to hatred and violence, represent a systematic campaign that targets not only the Palestinian people but also the broader international community.
This escalation is seen as deeply concerning, particularly in light of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
The UAE has called upon the Israeli government to take full responsibility for these provocative actions, denounce such practices, and ensure accountability for all individuals involved, including ministers and other officials.
The ministry has urged prompt measures to prevent the exploitation of Jerusalem for agendas of violence, extremism, and incitement, emphasizing that any failure to act would be considered implicit approval, potentially exacerbating hatred, racism, and instability in the region.
Additionally, the ministry reaffirmed the importance of respecting the role of Jordan in overseeing religious sites, in accordance with international law and the existing historical status quo.
It stressed the necessity to uphold the authority over the management of Awqaf in Jerusalem, including Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Dome of the Rock, and the surrounding areas.
The UAE reiterated its firm rejection of all actions that contravene international resolutions, which threaten to escalate tensions further.
It underscored the importance of respecting the status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque and ensuring full protection for all religious sanctities in Jerusalem, which it views as symbols of coexistence and peace.
