Mandatory vaccinations for pilgrims include meningococcal and seasonal influenza vaccines.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention of the United Arab Emirates has issued a call for travelers planning to perform Hajj and Umrah to ensure they have received mandatory vaccinations.
This directive aims to protect both individuals and the wider community from potential health risks associated with these religious journeys.
In a public awareness video disseminated through its official social media channels, the ministry clarified that the mandatory
vaccine for pilgrims is the meningococcal
vaccine, which is required for all travelers from the age of one year and older.
This
vaccine must be administered at least ten days prior to traveling abroad.
Additionally, the ministry indicated that the seasonal influenza
vaccine is also mandatory for pilgrims during the month of Ramadan, and it similarly needs to be taken ten days in advance of travel.
The Ministry of Health confirmed that these
vaccines are available at health centers and clinics across the UAE, and travelers can obtain an electronic vaccination certificate through the Al Hosn application.
