UAE Launches 15 Specialized Mental Health Clinics Across Six Emirates
Initiative aims to enhance mental health services and quality of life in the UAE.
The Emirates Health Services Corporation has officially launched 15 specialized mental health clinics within the framework of the "Together for Quality Mental Health" initiative.
This new initiative is implemented across various primary healthcare centers in six emirates: Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al-Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah.
The inauguration took place in the presence of Dr. Yusuf Mohammed Al Serkal, Director General of the organization.
This rollout is part of the organization's ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of life and support mental health for community members, with the goal of expanding mental health services and developing an integrated infrastructure that allows for comprehensive and specialized psychological care.
This aligns with the National Quality of Life Strategy 2031.
Dr. Noor Al Merri, Director of the Mental Health Department at the Emirates Health Services Corporation, emphasized that enhancing mental health services is a strategic priority for the organization.
The initiative aims to integrate these services more comprehensively and sustainably within the primary healthcare environment, ensuring that community members have access to specialized and early mental health care.
Mental health has been identified as a crucial foundation for achieving social balance and enhancing overall health-related quality of life.
This necessitates adopting proactive strategies focused on prevention, early detection, and effective treatment according to the highest global standards.
Dr. Karima Al Raisi, Director of the Primary Healthcare Department at the organization, noted that the integration of mental health clinics within primary healthcare centers reflects a shift towards building a comprehensive health model.
This model facilitates access for individuals to specialized psychological support.
She added that investing in training healthcare staff in early detection and effective therapeutic interventions strengthens the quality of the services provided and supports the integration of mental and physical health in a sustainable approach.
The initiative will operate 15 mental health clinics across the six emirates.
Qualified family doctors trained to handle various mental health cases will provide diagnostic and therapeutic services.
This includes training personnel on early detection of mental disorders, equipping them with necessary skills through specialized workshops.
To enhance the efficiency of therapeutic services, the initiative aims to standardize treatment protocols in line with the latest global best practices, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services.
Additionally, it seeks to develop mental health electronic systems within the "Wareed" health information system, thereby improving the management of mental health cases and providing accurate data that contributes to the advancement of treatment strategies and evidence-based decision-making.
