UAE Live Streaming Market Projected to Reach $3.4 Billion by 2030

New report highlights significant growth in the Mena region's live streaming industry, driven by creator engagement and economic opportunities.
The live streaming market in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is projected to grow from $1.9 billion to $3.4 billion by 2030, according to a recently released report by TikTok.

The broader Mena region, which currently has a live streaming industry valued at $8.1 billion, is expected to reach a total market size of $17.8 billion by the same year.

Yahya Munir, TikTok's Live Trust & Experience Manager for Mena, emphasized the potential of the live streaming sector, stating that it is rapidly becoming a vital component of the digital economy, spurring job creation and entrepreneurship across the region.

TikTok asserts that the UAE is in a strong position to attract talent and tell local stories, enhancing its role in the global live streaming landscape.

More than 10 million individuals across Mena have engaged with live streaming at least once, demonstrating the format's increasing accessibility and popularity.

Approximately 115,000 social media users in the UAE are reported to go live daily, creating a diverse range of content that includes entertainment, education, and niche lifestyle themes.

TikTok has stated that these content creators benefit from its resources and features aimed at helping them maximize their use of TikTok LIVE, including various monetization opportunities.

The development aligns with the UAE's Digital Economy Strategy, which targets the technology sector to constitute 20 percent of the national GDP by 2031, positioning the UAE as a leader in technology both regionally and globally.

The UAE Centennial Plan 2071 outlines goals for fostering a knowledge-based economy centered around technology and digital transformation.

Key insights from TikTok's 'Future of Entertainment' report include:
- Mena creators produce content that resonates with both general and local audience preferences, tapping into global trends and regional specifics.

- The gaming sector continues to thrive, with platforms like Twitch considerably influencing viewer engagement.

- Live educational content such as tutorials and workshops has gained traction among audiences seeking knowledge.

- There is a rising trend in live commerce, where product demonstrations blend entertainment with shopping.

- Content related to religious themes, including Quran recitations and discussions on Islamic principles, draws a dedicated audience.

- Categories like cooking, fitness, and specialized hobbies have witnessed notable growth.

- Currently, approximately 700 agencies operate in the Mena region, which remains underdeveloped compared to markets like China, where about 80 percent of daily livestreaming creators are affiliated with agencies.

- Only about 10 percent of daily livestreaming creators in Mena collaborate with agencies, indicating significant potential for agency involvement and development.

- Agencies serve as crucial enablers, offering training and resources to help creators enhance their content and advance their careers.

- Typical agencies manage 15 to 20 staff members and oversee 200 to 500 creators, with larger organizations accommodating thousands across multiple countries.
