UAE Opens International Defense Exhibition IDEX 2025 with Global Representation
The opening ceremony in Abu Dhabi highlights the UAE's commitment to defense innovation and international collaboration.
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, inaugurated the International Defense Exhibition (IDEX) 2025 on February 20, 2025, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
The exhibition will run until February 21, featuring participation from over 1,500 exhibitors, military leaders, and decision-makers from the defense sector globally.
During the opening remarks, Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the UAE's progress in the defense industry, attributing it to decades of dedicated effort towards national advancement and security.
He stated that the UAE has pursued measures to ensure robust national capabilities to address various challenges, which he described as essential for the nation’s ongoing developmental plans and strategic goals.
Sheikh Hamdan noted the continued efforts of the UAE to promote peace, based on the vision and directives of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and Vice President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
He underscored the UAE's belief in the right of nations to enjoy security and stability, which are fundamental for development.
On social media platform X, Sheikh Hamdan shared insights about the exhibition’s significance, highlighting that it has become one of the foremost global specialized events in defense and security.
He commented on engaging with numerous defense ministers and representatives from exhibiting companies, praising the display of advanced technology and innovative solutions.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Fadhel Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Defense, and Lieutenant General Issa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, along with other senior military officials and heads of delegations.
Sheikh Hamdan visited several international pavilions, including the Saudi Arabian booth showcasing advanced defense and security products from leading government entities and companies.
He also explored the Qatari pavilion, which marked its debut at IDEX, featuring innovative products from Qatari firms in the defense sector.
The Sheikh further inspected the Tawazun Council pavilion, where he learned about its efforts in supporting research and development within the UAE’s defense industry and promoting technological sustainability and innovation.
Additionally, he visited the South Korean pavilion, which featured cutting-edge defense technologies and products from Korean companies participating in the event.
During his tour of the exhibition, Sheikh Hamdan also visited local companies, including Edge, which presented 46 new systems and solutions across various domains.
Sheikh Hamdan concluded the events by welcoming the heads of delegations and distinguished guests at IDEX, expressing his hopes for their nations to achieve stability, progress, and prosperity through the collaborative opportunities presented by the exhibition.
