UAE's Higher Education Ministry Enhances Scholarship Program to Support Graduates' Employment

Strategic partnerships with national economic institutions aim to facilitate students' transition from education to the workforce.
The UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is actively developing its scholarship program by establishing effective strategic partnerships with national economic institutions.

The initiative aims to provide a supportive environment and a smooth educational journey for scholarship students, alongside specialized training programs that ease the transition from academic settings to professional environments.

This year, the ministry has signed four partnership agreements to enhance student scholarships.

The first agreement was reached between the Ministry of Higher Education and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), aimed at supporting the scholarship program in advanced engineering disciplines and aligning it with national priorities.

DEWA will provide necessary support and guidance to Emirati students to help them fulfill their academic and professional aspirations, supply practical training, and ensure employment opportunities for graduates.

The second cooperation agreement involved the ministry and Emirates Group, which committed to offering outstanding educational opportunities for Emirati students in prominent global universities.

The collaboration will facilitate their transition from higher education to the job market through practical training and professional guidance, with guarantees of employment within Emirates Group post-graduation.

Students are considered employees of the company during their studies, receiving specialized vocational training.

The third agreement was made with Emirates Global Aluminium, which will provide several scholarships for Emirati students wishing to pursue studies in mechanical and electrical engineering.

The company will also offer practical training and professional support during the students' scholarship period and facilitate employment opportunities upon graduation.

The final agreement was signed with the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation to empower and qualify national talents in vital fields, including mechanical, electrical, nuclear, and chemical engineering, along with related specialties.

This collaboration supports the nation's strategy to develop human capital and meet future labor market needs.

The Ministry will oversee the allocation of a number of scholarships annually for Emirati students in coordination with the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, which will provide professional support and guidance through practical training programs, with a commitment to employ students directly after graduation.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research emphasized that the goal of these cooperation agreements is to bolster the scholarship program by providing distinguished educational opportunities for Emirati students in strategic fields that align with national priorities and labor market needs.

This initiative is expected to enhance national competencies and increase their competitiveness in vital sectors, focusing on four main areas: providing Emirati students with high-quality educational experiences in strategic disciplines related to national priorities; facilitating smooth transitions from education to employment aligned with students' qualifications; meeting workforce needs through the scholarship program; and enhancing collaboration between the government, employers, and higher education institutions to improve employment opportunities for students.
