The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) has achieved a series of exceptional milestones in 2024, underscoring its reputation as a pioneering institution in education, research, and innovation.

As the national university of the UAE, UAEU continues to make significant contributions toward addressing global challenges, boosting innovation, and achieving notable progress in prestigious international and regional rankings.

Dr. Ahmed Ali Al Raisi, the Acting Director of the University, emphasized that these remarkable achievements are a testament to UAEU's unwavering commitment to excellence in education, research, and sustainability.

Highlighting the university's mission, Dr. Al Raisi stated, "Our mission at UAEU is to continually enhance scientific research that supports the sustainability of our environment and strengthens our ability to face future challenges.

In 2025, UAEU secured the 261st position globally in the QS World University Rankings, showcasing its significant impact on academic and research communities.

Additionally, the university ranked fifth among Arab institutions in the QS Arab Region University Rankings 2025, reinforcing its leadership within the Arab world.

The university also achieved the top position in the UAE and third in the Arab world in the 2024 Arab University Rankings by the Association of Arab Universities.

UAEU's commitment to sustainable development is highlighted by its first-place ranking in the UAE and 58th in Asia in the QS Sustainability Rankings 2025.

Moreover, it was recognized for its interdisciplinary scientific research, achieving the 112th spot globally in the Times Higher Education Interdisciplinary Sciences Rankings 2025.

UAEU's commitment to preparing students for the global job market is evident as it ranked 230th in the Times Higher Education University Employability Rankings 2025.

Additionally, it maintained its position in the 251-300 range in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025, reinforcing its standing among the top universities worldwide.

The institution also received a distinguished ranking in 11 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with advanced global standings in Goal 17 “Partnerships for the Goals” and Goal 4 “Quality Education” in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2024.

The university achieved unprecedented success in research and innovation in the past year, publishing over 3,000 Scopus-indexed research papers for the first time in its history, leading to a total of over 26,600 indexed publications.

This highlights UAEU's regional leadership in impactful scientific research, with 72.7% of these publications appearing in Q1 journals according to CiteScore ratings.

In 2024, UAEU was granted 36 patents, predominantly from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and filed 56 international patents, reinforcing its global footprint in intellectual property.

More than 50 patents were filed within the UAE, demonstrating a strong focus on local innovation.

The university awarded over 150 comprehensive research grants and 224 undergraduate research and innovation support grants.

UAEU extended its global research presence by launching collaborative research grants with prestigious international institutions, such as Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, The Education University of Hong Kong, Sun Yat-sen University, McGill University, and Beihang University.

The university also initiated a comprehensive research program for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to enhance community engagement and international cooperation.

Key initiatives include the SDG research program with Baku Engineering University, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, and MUNICIPALITY OF AL AIN, emphasizing UAEU's efforts in fostering sustainability and global partnerships.
