111 Million Dirhams Raised for the 'Fathers' Endowment' Campaign Amid Strong Community Response

Major contributions bolster a Ramadan initiative launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid to support healthcare for the needy in the UAE.
The 'Fathers' Endowment' campaign, a Ramadan initiative launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, has seen substantial contributions totaling 111 million dirhams.

This campaign aims to honor fathers in the UAE by creating a sustainable endowment fund, with proceeds directed towards healthcare for the poor and those in need.

Prominent Indian businessman and philanthropist Sunny Varkey, alongside his family, has pledged 100 million dirhams to the initiative.

Varkey, whose family has a long history of supporting global education and charitable efforts spanning over 65 years, emphasized the campaign's alignment with the UAE's enduring tradition of philanthropy established since the nation’s founding.

Emirates Islamic Bank contributed 5 million dirhams to the cause, while the Tarek Futtaim Investments Foundation pledged 3 million dirhams.

An additional donation of 1 million dirhams came from Al Ansari Holding, the parent company of Al Ansari Financial Services and Al Ansari Exchange.

The campaign also received 1 million dirhams from Dar Global and Aqua Properties.

Varkey highlighted the importance of this campaign, noting it serves as an extension of the UAE's charitable legacy.

His sentiments reflect a broader cultural commitment to community support, particularly during Ramadan, emphasizing the UAE's role in providing hope and assistance to underprivileged communities worldwide.

Chairman of Tarek Futtaim Investments, Tariq Al Futtaim, remarked that participation in the 'Fathers' Endowment' campaign exemplifies the community's appreciation for fathers and their crucial role in nurturing values of kindness and charity.

He noted that the campaign aims to alleviate the suffering of underprivileged individuals, ensuring they receive necessary medical treatment.

Fahd Al Mulla, CEO of Emirates Islamic Bank, described the 'Fathers' Endowment' campaign as a message of humanitarianism from the UAE to the world, aimed at providing sustainable healthcare solutions.

He reaffirmed the commitment to enhancing the UAE’s status as a global leader in charitable initiatives through continuous support of various humanitarian projects.

Similarly, Mohammed Ali Al Ansari, Chairman of Al Ansari Holding, stated that the campaign reflects the UAE's commitment to helping the less fortunate, providing essential healthcare services to those in need.

Ziyad Al Shihari, CEO of Dar Global, expressed pride in supporting the 'Fathers' Endowment' campaign, recognizing it as a vital opportunity to honor parents by contributing to sustainable healthcare for the less fortunate.

The campaign encourages individuals across the UAE to donate in the names of their fathers, reflecting deep-rooted values of filial piety and communal responsibility.

In addition to fundraising for healthcare, the campaign underscores the growing trend of community engagement and philanthropy experienced during Ramadan, where collective efforts lead to significant impact on the lives of those in need.

As of this month, the initiative has reportedly exceeded its initial target, raising over 3.3 billion dirhams in total contributions.

This campaign is part of a series of initiatives launched by Sheikh Mohammed during Ramadan aimed at addressing various social challenges and enhancing the welfare of communities both locally and globally.
