Al Ahly Aims for Comfortable Win Against Sudan's Al Hilal in CAF Champions League
As the African Champions League quarter-finals commence, Al Ahly prepares to host Al Hilal in Cairo, seeking an advantage for the return leg.
The first leg of the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League will feature defending champion Al Ahly facing Sudan's Al Hilal at the Cairo International Stadium.
The match is set to take place tomorrow, with the return leg scheduled for next Tuesday in Mauritania.
Ahead of the clash, Al Ahly's Swiss coach Marcel Kohler held a training session on Sunday evening, emphasizing the need for his players to maintain focus and effectively finish their scoring opportunities.
Kohler cautioned against squandering chances and highlighted Al Hilal's pace, which can pose a significant threat during counterattacks.
Goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawi is set to return to the starting lineup after an absence, having been replaced by Mustafa Shobeir during Al Ahly's recent 2-0 victory over Tala'ea El Gaish in the Egyptian Premier League.
The medical staff of Al Ahly confirmed that all players are fit for the match against Al Hilal, including defender Yasser Ibrahim and midfielder Amr El Solia.
Ibrahim had previously experienced slight muscular fatigue, while El Solia had complained of calf pain following a recent friendly match against ZED three days prior.
Both players have since stabilized and are deemed ready for the encounter.
Additionally, winger Taher Mohamed Taher has returned from injury and is available for selection after participating fully in training sessions, marking his readiness for competitive action for the first time since December.
On the other side, Al Hilal has prepared for the match through a training camp in Tunisia.
Vice President of Al Hilal, Mohamed Al-Aliqi, expressed confidence in the team's readiness for the match, stating that Al Hilal has been developing significantly each year.
Al-Aliqi mentioned their desire for advancement over Al Ahly in this tightly contested matchup.
Reflecting on the regularity of meetings between the two teams in recent years, Al-Aliqi noted that this match is a standard encounter between Al Ahly and Al Hilal, highlighting that they have faced each other on multiple occasions across different competitions.
Al Ahly aims to secure a victory that could pave the way for them to win the African championship for a third consecutive season, marking a historic achievement in the continental league.
