Dubai Allocates Land for Over 17,000 New Housing Units
Sheikh Hamdan's approval signals an initiative to enhance affordable housing and educational development in the emirate.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council, approved plans to allocate 1.46 million square meters of land for the development of more than 17,000 housing units in Dubai.
This decision was made during a meeting of the council aimed at reviewing various policies and projects designed to bolster the wellbeing of the community.
The approval is part of the Affordable Housing policy, which aims to address the housing needs of various income groups within the emirate.
The first phase of this project prioritizes skilled professionals from diverse nationalities, particularly those engaged in vital sectors of the economy, and aims to provide affordable rental options close to urban centers.
Additionally, the council endorsed the "Enhancing Arabic Language and Islamic Studies Outcomes Policy," which aims to improve educational outcomes in these subject areas within private schools.
The policy emphasizes the importance of national identity, Arabic language, and Islamic values in the educational curriculum, with initiatives to increase the proportion of Emirati teachers in essential subjects.
A new initiative, the Independent Legal Consultant Project, was also approved, allowing Emirati legal professionals to work as independent consultants with flexible schedules without the need to establish law firms.
This project is anticipated to enhance legal service accessibility while promoting entrepreneurship within the legal field.
The initial focus will be on areas of real estate and family law, providing opportunities for citizens to engage in legal consultancy without the overhead costs associated with traditional law practices.
The Executive Council has stated that these measures are in alignment with Dubai's long-term urban development goals and the broader 2040 urban development plan, which aims to create vibrant and healthy communities.
The initiatives strive to offer diverse housing options, support economic diversification, and enhance educational standards, thereby contributing to the overall social fabric of Dubai.
The responsibility for implementing these projects will rest with various government entities, including the Dubai Land Department, Dubai Municipality, and the Knowledge and Human Development Authority.
There is a concerted effort to ensure that these initiatives will serve the needs of the community while maintaining a focus on sustainability and growth.
