Dubai Awqaf Collaborates with Al Jalila Foundation to Establish Charity Endowment for Cancer Patients
The initiative aims to create a sustainable fund to support treatment at the Hamdan bin Rashid Cancer Hospital, with a budget of 38.5 million AED.
The Dubai Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation has announced a collaboration with Al Jalila Foundation, the charitable arm of Dubai Health Authority, to establish a sustainable charity endowment aimed at supporting patients at the Hamdan bin Rashid Cancer Hospital.
This initiative was revealed in conjunction with the spirit of giving that characterizes the month of Ramadan, in line with the charitable efforts established by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.
The project, which is formalized through a contract signed by both parties, involves the construction of a seven-story endowment building in Dubai South on a piece of land valued at 8.5 million AED that is allocated for this purpose.
The construction costs are estimated at 30 million AED, which will be funded by Al Jalila Foundation.
The anticipated completion time for the endowment project is approximately 16 months.
According to the contract, both the building and the land on which it is constructed will be deemed perpetual endowments managed by the Dubai Awqaf.
The revenues generated from this endowment will be allocated to the treatment of patients at the Hamdan bin Rashid Cancer Hospital.
Ali Al Mutawa, the Secretary-General of Dubai Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation, emphasized that the collaboration with Al Jalila Foundation to establish a real estate endowment for humanitarian cases at the Hamdan bin Rashid Cancer Hospital represents the foundation's commitment to supporting the healthcare sector in the community and its focus on alleviating the suffering of cancer patients and their families.
He stated that Dubai Awqaf will begin implementing the agreement and will have full oversight of the construction processes, ensuring the project's completion within the agreed timeframe while maximizing the endowment's growth and returns to benefit as many underprivileged patients as possible.
Al Mutawa further remarked that the foundation’s endowment projects aim to contribute to building a healthy and sustainable community, rooted in humanitarian and developmental endowment efforts, affirming its ongoing mission to effectively serve the community and support national projects aimed at enhancing the quality of life and developing community services to promote comprehensive social and economic development.
Dr. Reem Isa Al Eisa, a board member of Dubai Health and Chairwoman of Al Jalila Foundation, expressed gratitude to Dubai Awqaf for their partnership in establishing this sustainable endowment project.
She underlined the significance of effective collaboration among different institutions to achieve a lasting positive impact on patients' lives, aligning with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision of embedding charitable and humanitarian work as a fundamental principle in society.
Dr. Al Eisa added that this endowment will contribute to providing long-term support to the Hamdan bin Rashid Cancer Hospital, thereby facilitating specialized treatment for cancer patients at what is recognized as the first comprehensive cancer hospital in Dubai.
She noted that this collaboration with Dubai Awqaf highlights Al Jalila Foundation's commitment to its humanitarian role in supporting the healthcare sector and represents an important step towards bolstering national efforts in aiding cancer patients.
