Dubai International Airport Achieves Record Capacity with 10 Million Seats in April
Dubai International continues to lead global airport rankings with substantial growth in scheduled seats, reaching over 20 million in the first four months of 2025.
Dubai International Airport recorded more than five million scheduled seats on international flights in April 2025, amounting to nearly 10 million seats in both directions.
This brings the total number of scheduled seats at Dubai International to 20.24 million for the first four months of the year, equivalent to 40.48 million in both directions, according to the latest report from the international data provider for airports and airlines, OAG.
In comparison to last year, Dubai International has continued to demonstrate strong gains, with passenger capacity rising by 2.5% in April 2025 compared to the same month in 2024. Overall, capacity increased by approximately 3.3% during the first four months of this year relative to the same period in 2024.
The OAG report indicates that Dubai International maintained its position as the world’s largest air transport hub in April 2025, with about 5.16 million seats recorded in March, 4.78 million in February, and 5.3 million in January of the same year.
This growth in passenger capacity at Dubai International is attributed to the airport attracting new airlines, opening additional destinations, and increasing flights to existing locations, following a robust performance in international traffic throughout 2024.
Globally, London Heathrow Airport secured the second position with approximately 4.1 million seats, followed by Singapore Changi Airport with 3.5 million seats, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in fourth place with around 3.4 million seats, and Seoul Incheon International Airport rounding out the top five with 3.3 million seats.
Moreover, Dubai International Airport ranked second worldwide for total seating capacity on both international and domestic flights combined, following Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which reported approximately 5.19 million seats in April 2025. Tokyo Haneda Airport took third place with about 4.5 million seats, with London Heathrow in fourth at approximately 4.3 million seats, and Istanbul Airport fifth with around 4.2 million seats.
Dubai International Airport established a new benchmark in the global aviation sector by welcoming 92.3 million passengers in 2024, marking the highest annual traffic in the airport's history.
This achievement surpasses the previous record of 89.1 million passengers set in 2018.
Dubai International operates flights to 272 destinations across 107 countries, serviced by 106 international airlines.
