Dubai's Public Transportation Sees 6.39 Million Passengers During Eid al-Fitr Holiday
Significant rise in ridership reported across various modes of public transport in Dubai during the festive period.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai reported that a total of 6.39 million passengers utilized public transportation services, taxis, and shared mobility options during the Eid al-Fitr holiday for the year 1446 AH (2025 AD), spanning from March 30 to April 1.
The breakdown of ridership reflects a diverse use of the city's transport network.
The metro system, comprising the red and green lines, recorded a total of 2.427 million passengers.
Meanwhile, the tram service saw approximately 111,130 passengers.
Public buses accounted for about 1.329 million riders, and marine transport facilitated 408,000 passengers.
In terms of taxis, both Dubai taxis and affiliated franchise vehicles transported around 1.686 million passengers during the holiday.
Additionally, shared mobility options, which include services from app-based transportation companies, hourly rental vehicles, and demand-responsive buses, served approximately 429,616 riders.
This robust usage illustrates the significant role of public transport in accommodating the needs of residents and visitors during one of the most anticipated festive seasons in the region.
