At least eleven individuals sustained injuries and were transported to local hospitals following a shooting incident on Sunday night in the coastal town of Little River, South Carolina, as reported by local authorities.
The Horry County Police Department has not disclosed the conditions of the victims involved in the shooting, which occurred around 9:30 PM local time (0130 Monday GMT).
In a statement on social media, the Horry County Police indicated that they were receiving reports of additional persons arriving at hospitals in private vehicles following the incident.
Approximately ninety minutes after the shooting took place, police classified the situation as an isolated incident, assuring the public that there was no ongoing threat to the community.
No information has yet been released regarding potential suspects or the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
The incident unfolded on a residential street characterized by a limited number of boat businesses adjacent to a coastal waterway.
Videos from the scene depicted numerous police cars and ambulances responding to and departing from the area.
Laurin Jesse, spokesperson for the City of North Myrtle Beach, reported that a city police officer accidentally shot himself in the leg while responding to the shooting incident at a marina located approximately five kilometers away from the main shooting site.
The officer was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.
Little River is situated about 32 kilometers northeast of Myrtle Beach.
