Strengthening Ties: UAE and Paraguay Leaders Discuss Cooperation
Sheikh Diab bin Mohammed meets Paraguayan President Santiago Peña to enhance bilateral relations and cultural exchange.
Sheikh Diab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chief of the Presidential Court for Development Affairs and Families of Martyrs, welcomed Santiago Peña, President of the Republic of Paraguay, during his official visit to the United Arab Emirates.
The meeting took place at the Wahat Al Karama, a memorial dedicated to the nation's heroes.
During their discussions, the two leaders explored avenues to strengthen bilateral cooperation across various sectors, reflecting the growing relations between the UAE and Paraguay.
The meeting was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Suhail Mohamed Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure; Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development; Dr. Aliah A. Al Hababi, UAE Ambassador to Paraguay; and Shadi Malek, CEO of Union Railways.
Following the meeting, President Peña, accompanied by Sheikh Diab, reviewed a ceremonial guard of honor before laying a wreath at the Martyrs' Monument.
They listened to a presentation about Wahat Al Karama, which symbolizes the valor and sacrifices of the UAE's courageous individuals who have defended the nation and its achievements.
Sheikh Diab expressed appreciation for the depth of the bilateral relationship between the UAE and Paraguay, highlighting the commitment of the leadership of both nations to advance mutual interests.
Notably, the Wahat Al Karama serves as a profound tribute to the UAE’s commitment to honoring its heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country and its values, and it epitomizes the principles of bravery and generosity upheld by the Emirati generations.
President Peña recorded a message in the guestbook, conveying his respect for the martyrs of the UAE.
In parallel developments, Santiago Peña and First Lady Leticia Ocalditcia de Peña visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi.
They were accompanied by Rubén Ramírez Lezcano, the Paraguayan Minister of Foreign Affairs; Dr. Aliah A. Al Hababi, UAE Ambassador to Paraguay; and Caroline Kunther López, Paraguayan Ambassador to the UAE, along with their delegation.
The visit began at the tomb of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, where they reflected on his enduring legacy and the principles of tolerance, coexistence, and peace he advocated for among diverse cultures around the world.
The group toured the mosque's halls and external corridors, guided by Dr. Youssef Al Obaidli, General Director of the mosque, to learn about its cultural message.
In remarks made during the visit, President Peña stated, "It is a great honor to participate and be here; it is a spiritual occasion for us to build bridges between our cultures and peoples."
