Israel Constructs Military Airfield in Southern Syria
Israeli forces establish a helicopter landing site near Syria's Quneitra province
In recent developments in the Golan Heights region, Israeli military forces have been observed transporting military and logistical equipment towards Syria's Quneitra province.
This activity follows reports indicating the intention to construct a small-scale military airfield outside the demilitarized zone.
According to reports from Russian news agency Sputnik, quoting Omar Aqla, a local leader from the southern region, Israeli forces have commenced work on a military helicopter landing site near the village of Hader in northern Quneitra.
The site is expected to accommodate up to three military helicopters of varying sizes.
Additional construction for several accompanying buildings is also underway, resembling a small military airbase.
Aqla highlighted that the selected site near Mount Hermon provides strategic oversight of the entire Quneitra province up to the outskirts of Damascus, enabling Israeli forces to monitor movements throughout the area.
Furthermore, Israeli forces are reportedly planning to establish a military base in the Yarmouk Basin area within the western Daraa countryside.
Preparations involve transforming the Al-Jazeera barracks into a fortified military site.
This includes the installation of power lines connected to the nearest supply network located in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
Additionally, Israeli forces have cleared minefields near the demilitarized zone to facilitate troop movements and entry into strategic points in Quneitra and the Yarmouk Basin area in western Daraa.
