In response to the developments, a spokesperson for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Andrea Tenenti, stated that the UN Security Council holds the authority to make any decisions regarding UNIFIL's presence in southern Lebanon.
Tenenti emphasized during a television interview that discussions about the future of UNIFIL would be the responsibility of the Security Council and confirmed that there are currently no discussions regarding its future.
He also noted that UNIFIL continues its operations in cooperation with the Lebanese Armed Forces and underscored the necessity for the Israeli military to withdraw from the positions it occupies in southern Lebanon.
