Registration Opens for Future Space Simulation Studies in the UAE
Emiratis aged 30 to 55 invited to participate in studies aimed at understanding space conditions.
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) has announced the opening of registration for Emirati citizens to participate in future space simulation studies as part of the UAE's space exploration program.
These studies aim to recreate space environments on Earth to study the effects of isolation on the health of astronauts, as well as the dynamics of teamwork in such settings.
Saeed Hamid Al Marri, Director General of MBRSC, emphasized that the UAE's investment in space exploration goes beyond merely launching space missions.
This effort extends to building knowledge, expertise, and human resources to shape the future of space in the nation.
He noted that with ambitions for long-term human presence in space, simulation studies are a crucial step in understanding how to adapt to harsh environments, maintain the well-being of crew members on missions, and ensure sustainable operations through specialized facilities on Earth.
Adnan Al Rais, Assistant Director General for Space Operations and Exploration at MBRSC, described space simulation studies as effective means to test and evaluate vital components of long-duration space missions.
He stated that such studies allow for the measurement of physiological changes, assessment of psychological adaptability, and exploration of crew dynamics in environments analogous to those experienced by astronauts during their missions.
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre is looking for Emirati citizens aged between 30 and 55 who are in good physical health and meet the medical and fitness requirements.
Applicants will undergo a medical examination to assess their physical and psychological suitability for the study, including psychological evaluations to ensure their readiness for isolation conditions during the study period.
Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in fields such as healthcare, engineering, programming, or technology, with preferences given to those with advanced degrees or specialized expertise.
Experience in educational roles is also considered an advantage.
Given the strict adherence to protocols required for this program, volunteers are expected to maintain physical fitness, including keeping exercise diaries prior to the commencement of the study.
Proficiency in English is a mandatory requirement, as all documentation and protocols will be handled in English.
