Tragic Death of Indian Expat Doctor in UAE Due to Car Accident in Kerala
Dr. Bindu Philip, a gynaecologist, dies following a road incident on her return from the airport.
Dr. Bindu Philip, a 51-year-old Indian expatriate gynaecologist working in Sharjah, UAE, died in a car accident in Kerala on Monday morning.
The incident occurred as she was returning home from Thiruvananthapuram International Airport after arriving from Dubai.
According to family accounts, the driver of the vehicle reportedly fell asleep at the wheel, leading to the fatal mishap.
The driver sustained injuries in the accident.
Dr. Philip was making a short trip to Kerala in anticipation of a housewarming event for her home, which was scheduled for May. She is survived by two children, having lost her husband two years prior.
A family friend reported that Dr. Philip’s university-aged daughter was home alone during her mother’s trip but was later accompanied by a family member to Kerala.
Professionally, Dr. Bindu Philip was a respected obstetrician and gynaecologist at NMC Medical Centre in Buhairah Corniche, Sharjah.
She graduated from Dr. S.N. Medical College in Jodhpur, India, and completed her post-graduation at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, in 2012. Prior to her position in Sharjah, Dr. Philip worked in a notable maternity and infertility hospital in Kerala and served as an associate professor in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at Mount Zion Medical College.
Her medical career included managing both normal and caesarean deliveries, specializing in high-risk pregnancy care and infertility issues, including recurrent pregnancy loss and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
She was a registered member of the Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in India (FOGSI) as well as the Travancore Medical Council.
Dr. Philip was known for her extensive experience in antenatal and postnatal care, gynaecological assessments, and cervical cancer screenings.
