The president acknowledged that tariffs he has imposed on various countries might cause "some disruptions" to the U.S. economy, asserting, "We are fine with that." He insisted that these tariffs would lead to America's wealth and greatness, and claimed their positive economic impacts would materialize swiftly, despite anticipated challenges.
Further, Trump reiterated his commitment to combatting Mexican drug cartels, which he characterized as a "serious threat to national security." He declared the necessity for America to wage a war against these gangs, highlighting that he had classified many of these cartels as terrorist organizations.
Additionally, Trump announced that the United States has begun the process of "recovering" the Panama Canal, following an agreement by a Hong Kong firm to sell two ports located at either end of the canal to an American consortium.
He stated, "To enhance our national security further, my administration is reclaiming the Panama Canal, and we have already begun doing so."
In a noteworthy diplomatic development, Trump revealed that he had received a message from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, indicating Ukraine's willingness to engage in peace negotiations regarding the ongoing conflict with Russia.
