U.S. President Donald Trump Receives Formal Welcome in Abu Dhabi

Trump's state visit marks a significant moment in UAE-U.S. relations.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, formally welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump during his state visit to the UAE on May 15, 2025. The reception took place at Qasr Al Watan, the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi.

Upon Trump's arrival, he was greeted by a parade of horse-mounted riders and traditional Emirati cultural performances, reflecting the significance of the occasion.

The welcoming ceremony included the playing of the national anthems of both the United States and the UAE, followed by a 21-gun salute.

Honorary troops lined up to salute President Trump, while groups of children waved flags of both nations and chanted welcome phrases.

A special community group composed of distinguished students from space camps, along with astronauts and mission engineers, participated in the ceremony.

This representation highlighted the UAE's commitment to involving diverse societal sectors in its developmental projects.

The visit coincided with the 'On the Path to Stars' exhibit, showcasing the UAE's advancements in space exploration and the legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who had a long-standing interest in this field.

Abu Dhabi's landmarks and streets were adorned with U.S. flags, with welcome banners placed along the route from the presidential airport to the palace.

Notable attendees at the reception included Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister, along with several members of the Emirati royal family and government officials.

President Trump was accompanied by a delegation of U.S. officials and ministers.

This visit is a significant step in the strategic partnership between the UAE and the U.S., which has developed over nearly fifty years.

According to the UAE's Ministry of Economy, the UAE is the largest trading partner of the United States in the Middle East and North Africa.

During his stay, President Trump is expected to engage in high-level meetings to discuss strategic issues aimed at further enhancing the robust partnership in various sectors, including economy, security, technology, and innovation.
