UAE National Under-17 Team Defeats Australia, Strengthening Qualification Prospects in Asian Cup
The UAE under-17 team secured a 2-0 victory over Australia in the Asian Cup, positioning themselves favorably for the next stage.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) national under-17 football team achieved a significant victory against the Australian team with a score of 2-0, at King Fahd Sports City Stadium in Taif.
This match took place during the second round of Group B in the AFC U-17 Asian Cup.
The UAE team's goals were scored by Maid Adel and Mohammed Bati in the 9th and 52nd minutes, respectively, allowing the UAE to collect 3 points and rise to second place in the group, thereby enhancing their chances for advancement to the next stage of the tournament.
Meanwhile, Japan leads the group with 4 points after a 1-1 draw against Vietnam, which now holds 2 points.
Australia remains at the bottom of the group with 1 point.
The UAE opened the scoring in the 9th minute with a header from Maid Adel, hitting the upper left corner of the net following a cross from Mohammed Jamal.
Mohammed Bati added a second goal for the UAE in the 52nd minute, with a left-footed shot from the left side of the penalty area that found the upper left corner after a swift counterattack.
In injury time, UAE’s player Ali Hassan received a red card following his second yellow card.
The final round of group matches is scheduled for next Thursday, with the UAE set to face Vietnam, and Japan meeting Australia.
In the first round of the group, Japan defeated the UAE 4-1, while Australia and Vietnam ended in a 1-1 draw.
The top eight teams from this tournament will qualify for the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup to be held in Qatar, joining the host nation in a finals featuring 48 teams.
