Sheikh Mohamed to attend June meeting addressing global economic stability and cooperation.
President Sheikh Mohamed of the United Arab Emirates has received an invitation to attend the upcoming G7 summit scheduled for June 15 to 17 in Canada.
The invitation was extended by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, according to the UAE's state news agency, Wam.
This year's summit will take place in Kananaskis, Alberta, where leaders from the G7 nations, which include Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, are expected to convene.
Discussions are anticipated to focus on critical issues such as global peace and security, economic stability, and advancements in artificial intelligence.
The invitation to President Sheikh Mohamed is indicative of the growing international recognition of the UAE's diplomatic standing, particularly regarding its efforts to promote international cooperation and address shared global challenges.
The UAE has been active in mediating conflicts worldwide, including facilitating prisoner exchanges between Ukraine and Russia, and advocating for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
In recent years, the UAE has also established itself as a leader in promoting the responsible use of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence.
President Sheikh Mohamed’s participation at this G7 summit follows his previous engagement at the 2022 summit in Italy, to which he was invited by then-Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for an expanded discussion platform.
