UAE Presidential Affairs Office Explores Future of Sustainable Development

Discussions at the Global Government Summit 2025 Focused on International Cooperation for Sustainable Development Goals
The Office of Development Affairs at the UAE Presidential Office convened six significant discussion sessions as part of the agenda for the 2025 Global Government Summit.

The sessions addressed various aspects of international cooperation aimed at achieving sustainable development goals, engaging with government entities, private institutions, and international organizations to foster positive global impacts.

The discussions emphasized innovative models that address diverse challenges across different continents while meeting the aspirations and needs of communities.

The sessions comprised three general discussions and three roundtable meetings featuring a select group of ministers, directors-general, CEOs, and specialists representing various government entities and international organizations worldwide.

Participants highlighted the most impactful global methods and significant developmental initiatives that improve the lives of millions, focusing on building a better future and driving transformative changes in social, educational, health, and economic sectors to ensure prosperity and stability.

Key themes from the discussions included the importance of establishing global models that proactively shape a better future, empowering individuals across sectors, nurturing community development in diverse fields, and promoting principles of collaborative international work to achieve noble goals for the betterment of humanity.

Emphasis was placed on finding proactive, innovative solutions to challenges faced by certain communities, necessitating a collective effort to enhance the quality of life for hundreds of millions through comprehensive international developmental programs involving government bodies, private institutions, and international organizations.

Among the discussions was a session titled "A Human-Centric Future: Building Expertise for a New Economy," led by Abdullah Bin Touq Al Mari, the UAE Minister of Economy.

He highlighted the UAE’s longstanding belief in the notion that people represent the true wealth and essential element in advancing economic and social development.

He reiterated the country's commitment to providing the necessary enablers and resources for human development, enhancing skills, and encouraging effective contributions across sectors, particularly in the new economy, in alignment with the directives of national leadership and the goals of the "We Are the UAE 2031" vision to become the most prosperous society by the next decade.

Additionally, Reem Bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, elaborated in a session titled "Collaborative Pathways Towards Sustainable Development" on the global focus on comprehensive aspects of sustainable development.

This includes meeting contemporary needs, establishing systems, and formulating international policies that protect future generations while ensuring a balance between economic growth, social inclusion, and environmental preservation.

Badr Jafar, the UAE Special Envoy for Business and Philanthropy, addressed the evolution of charitable endeavors in a session called "Redefining Philanthropy: New Models for Global Impact." He emphasized the necessity of moving beyond traditional charitable work towards sustainable, long-term investments that involve knowledge exchange, innovation, and strategic partnerships, rather than merely capital accumulation.
