UAE Team Achieves 10 Medals at Fazza International Championships for Disabilities
The UAE team secures 18 medals, ranking third, as athletes excel in various events.
The UAE team for individuals with disabilities has added to its medal count with 10 new medals, comprising five golds, four silvers, and one bronze, at the Fazza International Championships for Athletics.
This increase in medals brought the total to 18, with the UAE finishing third in the overall standings by the penultimate day of the competition.
The UAE's tally includes seven golds, five silvers, and six bronzes.
The Saudi Arabian team claimed the second position with 12 medals, which included eight golds, two silvers, and two bronzes, while the Indian team led the competition with a total of 14 medals, featuring eight golds, three silvers, and three bronzes.
Gold medals for the UAE were secured by athletes including Zechariah Al-Kaabi in the pole vault, Yahya Al-Balooshi in the men's 100 meters T45/T46, Abdullah Al-Marzouqi in the 100 meters wheelchair race T71/T72, Suhaim Al-Rashidi in the discus wheelchair event F52/57, and Sarah Al-Junaibi in the shot put wheelchair event F32/33.
The silver medalists comprised Maryam Al-Zaoudi in the shot put F40/44, Rashid Al-Muharami in the 100 meters wheelchair race T71/T72, Shama Al-Mazmi in the pole vault, and Mubarak Al-Dahmani in the javelin wheelchair event F33/53/54.
The bronze medal was awarded to Mohammad Youssef in the 400 meters wheelchair race T34, marking his second personal medal after winning gold in the 100 meters wheelchair race T34 at the opening of the championship.
Additionally, Saudi athlete Naif Al-Masrhi set a new Asian record in the 100 meters T44 with a time of 23.11 seconds.
Hassan Al-Mazrouei, a member of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Club for People of Determination, presided over the awards ceremony recognizing the Emirati champions.
Khalifa Al-Balooshi, the UAE team manager, expressed pride in the achievements of the UAE athletes, noting the continuous development of Mohammad Youssef since his participation in the recent Paralympic Games held in Paris.
Al-Balooshi pointed out that Youssef has benefited from extensive training camps, which have had a positive influence on his performance.
He described Youssef as a promising athlete with a bright future in athletics, expressing hope for continued positive results as the athlete pursues his long-term goals.
