Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge 2025 Set to Take Off in the Rub' al Khali

The 34th edition of the prestigious rally will feature unprecedented changes and a new campsite for both bikes and cars.
Under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the representative of the ruler in the Al Dhafra region, the highly anticipated Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge is set to launch its 34th edition in the United Arab Emirates from February 21 to 27, 2025. The event will take place along a previously uncharted course, with a campsite located in the 'Al Quaa' area, which will be accessible to all competitors.

Historically limited to motorcycle participants, the rally’s camp in Al Quaa will now accommodate cars for the first time in its history.

This significant change marks a notable evolution in the event, which continues to attract top talents in off-road and dune racing.

Key elements of the upcoming Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge will include speed, navigation, and perseverance, complemented by new stages in the Rub' al Khali (Empty Quarter) and a course modification of over 50%.

These adjustments reflect the organizers’ commitment to enhancing the experience for both participants and followers.

Teams from around the globe are preparing to participate, with registration open for both professionals and amateurs until February 7, 2025. The challenge remains one of the most prominent and historically rich events in the World Championship for Cross-Country Rallies.

David Castera, director of the World Championship for Cross-Country Rallies and Dakar Rally director, stated, "The Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge is one of the leading and distinctive rallies worldwide, fully composed of sand and dunes.

This rally has evolved over the years, reinventing itself to remain attractive, and we are gearing up for another edition this year."

Khalid bin Suleiman, president of the Emirates Motorsports Organization, expressed deep gratitude to Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his ongoing support of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge.

He noted, "Without this steadfast and continuous support for the event, we would not see its continued success year after year."

Bin Suleiman added, "We have worked diligently with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and other governmental entities in Abu Dhabi to make the 2025 edition of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge an unforgettable experience."

The Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge is organized by the Emirates Motorsports Organization and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, with cooperation from ADNOC Distribution and various governmental departments, institutions, and private companies.
