The club confirms that Gabriel will undergo surgery on a hamstring injury sustained during a recent match.
Arsenal Football Club has announced that defender Gabriel Magalhães will be sidelined for the rest of the season due to a hamstring injury requiring surgical intervention.
The Brazilian defender, 27, sustained the injury in the early minutes of Arsenal's 2-1 victory against Fulham on Tuesday.
He immediately left the field following the incident.
In a statement, Arsenal noted, "In the coming days, Gabi will undergo surgery on his hamstring and will immediately begin a rehabilitation program to ensure he is ready for the start of next season."
Arsenal is already facing challenges in their defensive lineup, with defenders Ricardo Calafiori, Ben White, and Takehiro Tomiyasu unavailable due to injuries.
Additionally, defender Jurrien Timber exited the match against Fulham due to a knee issue.
As the season progresses, Arsenal currently sits second in the Premier League, trailing league leaders Liverpool by 12 points with eight matches left to play.
The team is also preparing to host Real Madrid in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final next week.
Furthermore, forward Kai Havertz and striker Gabriel Jesus will also miss the remainder of the season due to their respective injuries.
