Dh50 Million Donation Fuels Development of Dubai's Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital
Kuwait's Eissa Abdullah Abdullaziz Al Othman Endowment contributes to comprehensive cancer care facility.
Dubai's Al Jalila Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Dubai Health, has officially received a substantial donation of Dh50 million from the Eissa Abdullah Abdullaziz Al Othman Endowment based in Kuwait.
This funding will directly support the construction and development of the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital, which is set to be Dubai’s first fully integrated and comprehensive cancer care facility.
The donation was formalised during a signing ceremony at the Al Jalila Foundation, attended by key figures including Dr. Amer Al Zarooni, CEO of Al Jalila Foundation, and several endowment trustees, including Yousef Eissa Al Othman, Nabil Eissa Al Othman, and Abdulla Eissa Al Othman.
During the ceremony, the endowment trustees received insights into the hospital project and its expected impact on cancer patients.
The delegation also explored various facilities within Dubai Health, such as the flagship research initiatives including the Biobank and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Medical Research Institute.
These initiatives underscore the emirate's commitment to pioneering medical research, education, and patient care.
In a statement, Dr. Al Zarooni expressed gratitude for the generous contribution, emphasizing its role in enhancing healthcare advancement and fostering a culture of sustainable giving in Dubai.
The donation is seen as a significant boost for cancer patients and their families navigating challenging times.
In recognition of this important contribution, the hospital’s intensive care unit will be designated as the ‘Critical Care Unit-Supported By Waqf Eissa Abdullah Al Othman and Waqf Tiba Abdullwahab Al Othman - Kuwait.’
Faisal Eissa Al Othman, a representative of the endowment, articulated pride in collaborating with Al Jalila Foundation on this initiative, which he noted honors the legacy of the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
He stressed that the hospital will provide essential and specialist care for cancer patients, ensuring high-quality treatment and support.
This donation is portrayed as a continuation of the philanthropic legacy established by Eissa Abdullah Abdullaziz Al Othman and Tiba Abdullwahab Abdullaziz Al Othman, who are recognized for their lifelong commitment to community service.
The endowment aims to create a lasting impact within the healthcare sector, enhancing support for cancer patients.
The Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital, part of Dubai Health, is planned to cover an area of 56,000 square metres and is anticipated to accommodate around 30,000 patients annually, consolidating comprehensive cancer care services under one roof.
