DHA Organizes Second Edition of 'Clinic of Hope' to Provide Free Medical Services for Children
The 'Clinic of Hope' initiative aims to deliver essential healthcare services to underprivileged children in Dubai.
Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has launched the second edition of the 'Clinic of Hope' initiative at Al Jalila Children's Specialty Hospital.
This charitable initiative is designed to provide essential healthcare services for children who lack access to medical care.
The event coincides with the International Day of Humanitarian Action and aligns with the goals of the 'Year of Community', reflecting the leadership's vision towards building a cohesive and prosperous society.
The 'Clinic of Hope' is a part of the DHA's ongoing efforts to enhance human health, embodying values of philanthropy and humanitarian work through free medical assessments and support for patients unable to afford treatment, facilitated by the Al Jalila Foundation, the charitable arm of DHA, under its motto, 'Patient First'.
The initiative saw participation from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, which distributed gifts to the children.
Popular cartoon characters 'Salm' and 'Salama' engaged with the children, creating an enjoyable atmosphere.
Moreover, the Emirates Literature Foundation contributed by organizing reading and educational activities for the children.
During the event, Dr. Amer Sharif, the Executive Director of DHA, stated, "The organization of the 'Clinic of Hope' for the second consecutive year reflects our commitment at DHA to provide comprehensive and sustainable healthcare for children unable to access medical services, in line with the values of giving that are fundamental to our healthcare system.
The timing of this initiative with the International Day of Humanitarian Action is inspired by the vision of our founding fathers and our wise leadership, which has made charitable and humanitarian work a sustainable approach contributing to improving the lives of patients and offering them hope for a better future."
Dr. Mohammed Al Awadhi, Deputy Executive Director of Al Jalila Children's Specialty Hospital and Latifah Hospital, expressed pride in the notable success of the initiative during its second iteration, stating it provided medical care services to 300 children lacking access to healthcare in over 20 medical specialties, marking a 20% increase from the previous year.
The initiative also included medical follow-up for 45 children from the first edition, who had undergone long-term treatment programs.
The initiative witnessed the involvement of 100 volunteers from medical, nursing, and administrative staff, alongside students from Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, who all contributed to providing healthcare to the children, reinforcing DHA's noble message in supporting charitable work and enhancing community responsibility.
The 'Clinic of Hope' provided specialized healthcare services for children throughout a full day, covering more than 20 medical specialties, including general pediatrics, endocrinology, genetic and hereditary diseases, allergy and immunology, nephrology, neurology, psychiatry, orthopedics, infectious diseases, gastroenterology, dentistry, ENT, pediatric surgery, and pediatric cosmetic surgery.
