Dubai Police Allocate Over 7.6 Million Dirhams in Humanitarian Aid for Inmates
The Dubai Police Department announces significant support measures aimed at aiding inmates during their rehabilitation process in 2024.
The General Administration of Correctional and Penal Institutions in Dubai Police has announced the provision of humanitarian assistance amounting to 7,639,626 dirhams for inmates in its facilities during 2024. This initiative is part of efforts to ensure continuous social and moral support for inmates throughout their sentencing period.
Major General Marwan Abdullah Al-Kirsh, Director of the General Administration of Correctional and Penal Institutions, emphasized that this initiative reflects Dubai Police's commitment to implementing reform and rehabilitation policies focused on preparing inmates for positive reintegration into society upon completing their sentences.
This also aims to foster community solidarity and cooperation.
Al-Kirsh acknowledged the efforts of civil society institutions, the private sector, and philanthropists who contribute significantly to charitable acts, highlighting their role in providing necessary support to inmates to alleviate their hardships and encourage behavioral improvement and morale boosting.
Captain Habib Hussein Mohammed Al-Zarouni, Head of the Humanitarian Care Department, noted that the humanitarian assistance will benefit inmates in Dubai's reform institutions and will cover several areas including settling rent arrears, financial support for release, aid for families of inmates, payment of bail for inmates, travel tickets, health support, educational fees, and the implementation of humanitarian initiatives.
Dubai Police is committed to launching various initiatives aimed at improving the lives of inmates within correctional facilities, including educational and vocational training programs designed to prepare them for the job market post-release.
This underscores Dubai Police's dedication to developing a comprehensive correctional environment that emphasizes psychological and professional rehabilitation.
