Myanmar Government Honors UAE Rescue Team for Humanitarian Efforts
Recognition awarded for significant contributions in earthquake relief operations in Myanmar.
The Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has recognized the UAE Search and Rescue Team for its considerable humanitarian efforts during relief operations following a recent earthquake that resulted in substantial loss of life and property.
During a formal ceremony, the Minister of Social Affairs and the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs of Myanmar commended the prominent humanitarian role of the United Arab Emirates, highlighting the country’s effective and rapid support for nations affected by natural disasters.
They noted that the presence of the UAE team significantly contributed to saving lives and alleviating the suffering of those impacted by the earthquake.
The recognition was conferred upon Colonel Mozaffar Mohammed Al-Amiri, the leader of the UAE Search and Rescue Team, and Major Hamad Mohammed Al-Kaabi, the deputy leader of the team.
The Minister praised their professional expertise, the team's exceptional efforts, and their fruitful collaboration with local authorities and international teams in the field.
The meeting included a presentation on the latest updates regarding search and rescue operations, where it was officially announced that all field operations would be halted following the completion of urgent response phases.
Commemorative shields were exchanged between the UAE Search and Rescue Team and teams from Myanmar, Vietnam, Singapore, and France, promoting discussions on operational plans and sharing experiences to enhance the readiness of emergency response teams in the future.
Colonel Mozaffar Mohammed Al-Amiri expressed pride in the award, stating it reflects the international community's confidence in the UAE teams' capabilities and readiness to respond in emergency situations.
He emphasized that the honor recognizes the significant on-site efforts of the team members in challenging conditions and demonstrates global trust in the efficiency of UAE rescue teams.
Major Hamad Mohammed Al-Kaabi noted that the recognition embodies the commitment of the UAE to its steadfast humanitarian approach, driven by the directives of its leadership.
He pointed out that the team takes pride in representing the nation in such missions, carrying a message of solidarity and peace that transcends borders while reaffirming its commitment to supporting affected communities and enhancing the UAE's presence in global humanitarian efforts.
In response to the earthquake that affected Myanmar, the UAE quickly deployed the search and rescue team following directives from His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, reflecting the nation’s longstanding values of cooperation, solidarity, and global assistance by swiftly aiding the affected, injured, and suffering populations.
