Dubai World Cup Reinforces City's Status in Equestrian Sports

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum underscores the continued significance of the Dubai World Cup as a global equestrian event and tourism catalyst.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the Chairman of Dubai’s Civil Aviation Authority and the CEO of Emirates Airline, has emphasized that the Dubai World Cup symbolizes the ambitious vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, aimed at establishing the emirate as a premier global destination for equestrian sports and major events.

Since its inception in 1996, the Dubai World Cup has evolved into one of the most prestigious horse racing events on the international stage, transcending its status as merely a sporting event to become a celebration of excellence that brings together the elite of horse racing from around the world.

The race continues to play a vital role in positioning Dubai at the forefront of the global equestrian scene, marked by its organizational leadership, substantial prize money, and high levels of competition.

This aligns with Dubai’s aspirations to showcase the best in the world.

Emirates Airline has maintained a close association with the Dubai World Cup since its first edition, contributing significantly to the event’s growth and international influence.

This partnership complements the airline's long-term strategy of sponsoring major sporting events that foster strong engagement with its global audience and enhance its brand presence in the international sports arena.

The Dubai World Cup is not simply a horse race; it is an event that draws global attention to Dubai, reinforcing its status as a center for tourism and sports.

Annually, the race attracts tens of thousands of visitors to the city, positively impacting the hospitality, retail, and tourism sectors, thereby reflecting its beneficial effects on the local economy.

The event also serves as a platform for networking among decision-makers in the global equestrian industry, fostering opportunities for collaboration and investment in this sector.

Alongside its economic impact, the Dubai World Cup exemplifies Dubai's spirit of innovation and excellence, whether in competition standards, organizational quality, or guest experiences.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum highlighted Emirates Airline's recent achievements, mentioning that the carrier continued to attain significant accomplishments last year, solidifying its position as one of the largest airlines worldwide.

This includes the expansion of its global network, now serving approximately 150 destinations around the globe.

The airline is also advancing its ambitious program to modernize 220 aircraft in its fleet, particularly the Airbus A380 and Boeing B777, ensuring enhanced passenger comfort and maintaining its commitment to provide an exceptional travel experience.

Recently, Emirates took delivery of four Airbus A350 aircraft, which are equipped with advanced technologies to ensure an exceptional travel experience, with additional units expected to arrive this year.

In enhancing its global presence, Emirates Airline continues to sign new strategic partnerships, having doubled the number of cities it connects to outside its global network to nearly 1,700 cities.

This facilitates smoother travel for over 61,000 passengers weekly through connecting flights across the shared networks of Emirates and its partners.

The airline offers a variety of additional travel options through its new or existing partnerships, totaling 162 partnerships across more than 100 countries, which include 31 codeshare agreements, 118 interline partnerships, and 13 multimodal partnerships.

Sheikh Ahmed spoke of the ongoing collaboration with Godolphin, one of the world’s leading horse racing teams, highlighting Emirates' substantial commitment to various global sports.

The airline’s partnerships extend to major football clubs such as Arsenal, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Benfica, and Olympique Lyon, along with collaborations in tennis, golf, cricket, rugby, and sailing.

These partnerships reflect the airline's continuous dedication to promoting sports on a global scale, engaging with fans worldwide, and establishing Emirates as a leading brand in the aviation sector.

With each new edition of the Dubai World Cup, Emirates remains focused on supporting this prestigious event and enhancing its global impact.

The forthcoming edition is anticipated to provide an exceptional experience for participants and spectators alike, further solidifying Dubai's status as a global capital for equestrianism.
