A 4.0-magnitude tremor was detected east of Jubail, with no reported damage or risk to the area.
Dubai: A 4.0-magnitude earthquake was recorded in the Arabian Gulf on Friday, approximately 55 kilometers east of the city of Jubail, according to the Saudi Geological Survey.
The tremor was detected by the Kingdom’s National Seismic Monitoring Network and was classified as minor.
Authorities confirmed that the earthquake did not result in any damage or impact on Saudi territory.
In an official statement, the Geological Survey attributed the earthquake to tectonic stress along ancient fault lines in the Gulf region, which is linked to the ongoing movement of the Arabian Plate as it collides with the Eurasian Plate.
This geological phenomenon accounts for the occasional low-intensity seismic activity observed in the area.
The Geological Survey reassured the public, stating, "There is no cause for concern," and emphasized that the situation remains safe.
No aftershocks have been reported following the initial tremor.
