Thousands gather in cities across the U.S. to express dissent against President Trump's administration.
On Saturday, thousands participated in protests across the United States, demonstrating against the policies of President
Donald Trump.
In the nation's capital, Washington, D.C., crowds gathered at the Washington Monument near the White House.
The demonstrators displayed signs calling for the protection of the Constitution and the impeachment of Trump.
Prominent slogans included "Hands Off Democracy" and "Stop the Coup." Multiple organizations coordinated efforts for over a thousand gatherings, large and small, in all fifty states.
Organizers estimated that nationwide participation could exceed 250,000 individuals, although the scale of the events made it difficult to obtain precise figures initially.
In New York City, thousands protested not only against Trump but also his close advisor,
Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of
Tesla.
At Bryant Park, protestors raised signs stating, "Defund Elon" and "I can only write this because the Department of Education existed before."
Significant protests were also reported in other cities, including Atlanta, Boston, Miami, and Charlotte.
Since taking office, Trump has collaborated with Musk to implement radical changes within the federal government, resulting in thousands of federal employees being laid off and several agencies, including the Department of Education, being closed entirely.
Many of his controversial decisions and initiatives have sparked waves of anger and concern both domestically and internationally.
Democrats and various experts have expressed that this approach poses a considerable threat to democracy.
