Paris Saint-Germain Wins Historic UEFA Champions League Title
French President Emmanuel Macron congratulates PSG on their first Champions League victory following a decisive win over Inter Milan.
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has achieved a historic milestone by winning the UEFA Champions League for the first time in the club's history.
The team secured the title with a commanding 5-0 victory against Inter Milan in the final, held on Saturday evening at the Allianz Arena in Munich, the home ground of Bayern Munich.
French President Emmanuel Macron promptly congratulated PSG on this significant achievement, expressing his pride via a post on social media platform X, stating, "Champions, it's a glorious day for PSG." He further added, "Well done, we are all proud of you; Paris is the capital of Europe tonight."
The victory marks a notable accomplishment under the guidance of Spanish coach Luis Enrique, who has now won the Champions League twice in his managerial career, having previously led FC Barcelona to victory in 2015 against Juventus.
With this triumph, PSG has also become the first French team to achieve a treble in a single season, having previously won both Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France in the same year.
Looking ahead, PSG is preparing for a new challenge as they are set to compete in the inaugural edition of the FIFA Club World Cup, which will feature 32 teams and take place in the United States from June 14 to July 13.
PSG will be placed in Group B, which also includes Atlético Madrid, Botafogo from Brazil, and the Seattle Sounders from the United States.
