Shabby Al-Ahli and Sharjah Face Off in UAE President's Cup Final

The teams set to meet for the seventh time this season after securing semi-final victories.
Youth team Shabby Al-Ahli and Sharjah FC have qualified for the final of the UAE President's Cup, also known as 'the most prestigious cup', which is set to take place at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium at a date to be determined.

This encounter will mark the seventh matchup between the two teams across various local competitions this season.

Shabby Al-Ahli secured their place in the final following a narrow 1-0 victory against Al-Wasl in the semi-finals, thanks to a late goal from Yuri Cesar in the 91st minute.

The match was held at Al Maktoum Stadium, home to Al Nasr, and after a goalless first half, it witnessed a decisive moment when Al-Wasl player Majed Sarour received a red card in the 72nd minute.

The match commenced with Shabby Al-Ahli adopting an aggressive approach, while Al-Wasl focused on a defensive strategy, retreating into their half.

Al-Wasl goalkeeper Mohamed Al-Wali notably denied crucial opportunities, including a powerful shot from Yuri Cesar in the 32nd minute and another from Kwan Santos in the 39th minute.

Al-Wasl had their own chance to score when Abdul Rahman Saleh misfired during injury time.

The first half concluded without a goal.

In the second half, Shabby Al-Ahli intensified their offensive efforts, capitalizing on Al-Wasl’s disadvantage after Sarour's dismissal.

Despite Al-Wasl’s attempts to manage the remaining minutes to maintain a draw, Shabby Al-Ahli continued to dominate.

The match proceeded to extra time, during which Yuri Cesar scored the decisive goal for Shabby Al-Ahli in the first minute after receiving a pass behind the defenders.

Al-Wasl sought to equalize, but a goal in the 110th minute was disallowed for offside, confirming Shabby Al-Ahli's progression to their 13th final in the history of the competition.

On the other side, Sharjah FC qualified for the final after outlasting Al-Jazira with a 3-1 victory in another semi-final that extended into extra time, marking their 12th appearance in the final of this prestigious cup.

Al-Jazira opened the scoring with an Argentine goal from Ramon Mires in the 29th minute, but Sharjah’s substitute, Dutch player Tyron Conrad, leveled the match in the 76th minute.

Sharjah's Kaio Lucas then showcased his skills by netting two additional goals in the 104th and 109th minutes of extra time.

Al-Jazira entered the match with strength, controlling the attack during the first thirty minutes before falling to the savvy offensive tactics of Sharjah after Mires’ opening goal.

The match saw various attempts from both teams, with Sharjah struggling initially against Al-Jazira's robust defense.

Despite the setbacks, Sharjah pressed on, leading ultimately to their extended success in the extra periods.
