US President Donald Trump removes several key National Security Council figures following advice from right-wing activist Laura Loomer.
On Thursday, sources familiar with the matter reported that U.S. President
Donald Trump dismissed several senior officials from the National Security Council (NSC) at the White House shortly after right-wing activist Laura Loomer urged him to remove staff whom she deemed insufficiently loyal to his agenda of 'Making America Great Again.'
The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of employee matters, indicated that Loomer presented her rationale for the dismissals during a meeting with Trump in the Oval Office.
Among those present at the meeting were Vice President JD Vance, White House Chief of Staff Suzy Wiles, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, and Serio Goor, Director of Presidential Personnel.
This meeting was characterized by discussions around personnel changes within the NSC.
The dismissals occur during a tumultuous period for Waltz, who faces calls for his ousters following his use of the commercially available messaging application Signal to discuss military details regarding Yemen in March 2025. Despite these challenges, Trump has expressed his support for Waltz.
Since the meeting with Loomer, the Trump administration has reportedly fired at least three senior officials from the NSC as well as several lower-ranking aides.
The National Security Council spokesperson Brian Hughes declined to comment on the meeting or the dismissals.
Loomer, known for promoting conspiracy theories about the September 11 attacks, has been an active supporter of Trump’s campaign for the 2024 presidential election.
Recently, she has criticized NSC members on social media, asserting that they are untrustworthy.
In a post on the platform X, Loomer stated, 'It was an honor to meet with President Trump and present him with my research findings.
I will continue to work hard to support his agenda and reaffirm the importance of rigorous vetting to ensure the protection of the President of the United States and our national security.'
