UAE Aid Trucks to Gaza Reported Looted in Israeli-Controlled Area
Only one out of 24 trucks managed to deliver supplies amid reports of theft in a restricted zone.
Trucks carrying humanitarian aid from the United Arab Emirates to Gaza were reportedly looted while passing through an area under Israeli control, as stated by Operation Gallant Knight 3. Of the 24 trucks that were permitted entry, it was reported that only the cargo of a single truck successfully reached its destination in Gaza’s warehouses.
This singular success followed a previous delivery of trucks loaded with flour and bakery supplies that had rekindled hopes for the resumption of bakery operations in Gaza.
In terms of future aid efforts, a plan was established for an additional 103 trucks to deliver essential items including flour, cooking gas, oil, salt, and sugar—critical supplies necessary for bakery operations.
However, the implementation of this plan was severely hampered, with only 24 trucks being allowed to enter.
These trucks were then compelled to navigate through precarious transit routes deemed unsafe, known as the 'red zone,' which is monitored by Israeli military forces.
During this transit, multiple trucks reportedly fell victim to looting and theft, resulting in substantial losses of their essential cargo.
Operation Gallant Knight 3 has expressed regret regarding the incidents, condemning such acts of theft.
The mission has highlighted that these actions significantly obstruct the provision of necessary humanitarian aid to the approximately 2.3 million residents of Gaza.
Additionally, they have called on the international community, along with all stakeholders, to urgently intervene to guarantee safe and rapid delivery of humanitarian assistance to the region.
