UAE President Marks Eid al-Fitr at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan attends communal prayers alongside senior officials and community members.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, participated in the Eid al-Fitr prayer held at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi.
Accompanying him were several high-ranking officials, including Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, along with various other Sheikhs and state officials.
The prayer was attended by Sheikh Sarour bin Mohamed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Nahiyaan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian Works, and Sheikh Sif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, among others.
In the sermon delivered by Dr. Omar Habtoor Al-Dhaheri, Chairman of the UAE General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments, the significance of righteousness in faith and community obligations was emphasized.
He highlighted that 'righteousness' in Arabic encompasses expansiveness and inclusiveness, correlating it to the essence of expanding acts of goodness and compassion.
Dr. Al-Dhaheri noted that the Quran mentions righteousness over thirty times, underscoring its importance and centrality in Islamic teachings.
He stated that an ideal society is built on the principle of righteousness, where believers interact with all community members based on this moral standard.
The sermon encouraged attendees to honor their ancestors' values and sustain a community enriched with principles that have fostered security and stability.
After the prayer, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed exchanged greetings with the congregation, celebrating the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
Post-prayer, the Sheikh and the officials read Al-Fatiha for the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, invoking blessings and mercy for his soul.
