UAE Weather Alert: Dense Fog Impacts Visibility Across Major Roads
The National Center of Meteorology warns of significant fog conditions affecting key routes in the UAE.
The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a severe weather warning due to heavy fog impacting visibility across numerous key roadways in the United Arab Emirates.
Drivers are advised to exercise extreme caution as horizontal visibility has been significantly reduced in affected areas, which is expected to continue until 9 am on March 18.
Particularly dense fog is reported over critical routes including the Al Ain – Abu Dhabi road and the Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Road.
The Abu Dhabi – Dubai highway is similarly affected, with reduced visibility also noted in regions such as Al Khatim, Arjan, and Al Taweelah in Abu Dhabi.
Areas in Al Ain including Sweihan, as well as Jebel Ali, Al Minhad, and Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai, are also experiencing challenging visibility conditions.
The NCM is advising motorists to maintain heightened alertness and adjust their driving speeds accordingly, particularly in noted fog-prone regions.
As for the weather forecast, today is expected to be fair to partly cloudy, with specific regions in the east and north likely to experience cloudier conditions.
Temperatures will remain moderate; internal regions are projected to see highs between 28°C and 33°C, while coastal areas and islands are forecasted to range between 26°C and 30°C, and mountain regions between 25°C to 29°C.
Humidity levels are expected to rise during the night and into Wednesday morning, especially in the northern areas of the country.
Wind conditions are predicted to be light to moderate, with gusts reaching up to 35 km/h, particularly in the southwest and northwest regions.
Sea conditions are described as mild, with slight waves anticipated in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
