Sheikh Hamdan Chairs Meeting on Citizen Wellbeing Initiatives
Strategic initiatives approved to enhance the quality of life for citizens in Dubai.
Dubai – Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, presided over a meeting of the Higher Committee for Development and Citizens Affairs on Tuesday, aimed at promoting the wellbeing and quality of life of citizens.
The committee approved a series of strategic initiatives emphasizing the importance of citizen welfare as a priority directive from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
During the meeting, Sheikh Hamdan remarked, "The citizen comes first, second, and third in all our endeavours," reaffirming the commitment to fostering a supportive environment for Emiratis.
The committee presented an implementation plan for the utilization of endowment funds managed by the Endowments and Minors’ Trust Foundation in Dubai.
The plan encompasses real estate and financial assets valued at AED 10 billion, with projected annual returns reaching AED 1 billion by 2033, providing sustainable funding for developmental initiatives.
In reviewing the committee's achievements, it was noted that over 33,400 Emiratis have found employment within both the public and private sectors since the committee's inception.
Additionally, Sheikh Hamdan highlighted progress in housing support efforts; notably, 1,315 housing units have been delivered, alongside 10,131 land grants.
In total, 8,663 financial and housing grants and 9,204 loans have been disbursed to eligible residents.
To enhance support for low-income citizens, Sheikh Hamdan announced that 426 Emirati individuals will be exempt from housing loan repayments, collectively amounting to AED 146 million.
The meeting also marked the launch of two significant social initiatives.
The ‘Thukhr’ initiative was introduced to honor retirees for their longstanding contributions to the community, featuring a comprehensive suite of programs aimed at their support and empowerment.
Furthermore, the ‘Ghamran Camp Initiative’ was approved, targeting the intergenerational bonding of fathers and sons through activities designed to strengthen social skills, reinforce core Emirati values, and enhance family ties in the Dubai desert.
